Bison have not always lived in North America, they are relative new comers. They belong to the Bovidae family, like domestic cattle and the wild buffalo of Africa and Asia. The oldest known bison fossils have been found in China and Himalayan foothills. where an animal with all essential features of the genus live a million years ago. They evolved rapidly and spread over most of the northern hemisphere in Europe and Siberia. During one of the ice ages, the faunas of Asia and North Africa began to intermingle. Very early, the steppe bison moved eastward to the North American continent. Much later, men followed the same route.

        Last holiday I visited my uncle's family who live in Bogor. His house is near a tea plantation and has wonderful surroundings.
       One morning, my cousin Doni, who is two years older than me, show me his horse. Doni said that he is a pretty skillful horse rider. To hear that, I felt envious. So, I asked him to teach me how to ride a horse. Doni then asked me whether I was really brave enough to ride a horse. Confidently I said yes.
        Doni taught me how to sit on the horse's bridles. He didn't let me ride the horse by myself. He sat behind me and guided the horse.
      The following day, I intended to ride the horse by myself. The horse was quite tame so Doni allowed me to. However, he still watched me. He followed me on another horse. I held the bridles and rode the horse carefully. Finally I succeeded in riding the horse around the plantation. I felt very happy. It was like a dream that I could finally ride a horse!
        You know what! It is the best holiday I've ever had! I promise Doni that I will return next holiday and explore the plantation with him, on horse. That'll be great!

         For many years people believe that the cleverest animals after man were chimpanzees. Now, however, there is proof that dolphins may be even cleverer than these big apes.
           Although dolphin lives in the sea it is not a fish. It is a mammal. It is in many ways, therefore, like a human being.
           Dolphins have a simple language. They are able to talk to one another. It may be possible for man to learn how to talk to dolphins. But this will not be easy because dolphins can not hear the kind of sounds man can make. If man wants to talk to dolphins, therefore, he will have to make a third language which both he and the dolphins can understand.
            Dolphins are also very friendly towards man. They often follow ships. There are many stories of dolphins guiding ships through difficult and dangerous waters.
